MTCA win cricket tourney for the blind

Maa Tarini Cricket Club (Cutack) beat Koraput Blind School by eight wickets in the final to emerge champions in the Odisha Visually Impaired Cricket Tournament at Nimpur ground in Cuttack today.

Lalu Prasad Soren of the Cuttack team scored 68 runs and bagged two wickets to be adjudged the player of the final match. A total of six teams participated in the three-day tournament. Other four teams were from Bhubaneswar, Keonjhar, Baragarh and Odisha Juniors.

Former India swing bowler Debasis Mohanty, Additional Police DG Shyam Sundar Hansda and Ravenshaw University Vice-chancellor Baisnab Charan Tripathy gave away the prizes at the closing function.

BRIEF SCORE (Final match): Koraput 158/7 in 18 overs (Sukharam Majhi 37, Nakula Gadanayak 20; Ramachandra Hansda 5/20) lost to Maa Tarini Cricket Club 161/2 in 13 overs (Lalu Prasad Soren 68, Bikash Sahoo 56 n.o; Sukharam Majhi 2 wkts) by 8 wkts.
